My name is Sarah Chamorro, and I'm the founder and creative force behind Bayou Brass. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and would spend all my childhood summers back in Honduras where my parents immigrated from, to New Orleans in the 80s. We belong to a small Afro-Indigenous group called Garifuna or Garinagu. After Hurricane Katrina, we moved back home to La Ceiba, Honduras and that duality of cultures has deeply shaped both who I am and the work I create.
